This and That About Nothing

The bench I repaired with the humming-bird design has found a home and everyone seems to like it. YAH!!!

 

 

 

 

 

All the volunteers were treated to a lunch by the CARE Director Russ, at a restaurant as a thank you for the work done helping paint the Cafe.

 

We have been here over a month and so far it has been great. Not saying we have not had a few problems but all have been resolved so all is good. It would be great if we got to stay until at least April or May of 2016, but when we are no longer needed we will pack up and roll on out. If no other place is lined up, I will head back to NM and maybe AZ. Only the SHADOW KNOWS!….

Completed work on Humming Bird Bench. It took anywhere from two coats ( black ) to six coats of paint ( white ) to get it close to looking the way I wanted it to. I have to admit I would like more benches and signs to work on, it is my idea of a fun way to relax.

Was a fun time for last three days, got to do on call and again things ran late into the night and did not get much sleep, next day got to drive for 5 plus hours ( off and on ) and that was an easy day. Yesterday the scheduled showed 4pm for the dinner meal, but ended up working all three meals to help out, easy easy easy…  My worse day here is a walk in the park when I compare it to my best day at MVR ( last place ) and compared to DHAR it is still better than the store or Tuesday pot luck.

Staying busy fixing up my site

My hands get a little bit better each day, but still taking things slow. I have been doing about 4 to five hours work trying to get the hilltop area looking nice. Have made some progress, but need help from some of the men on Tuesday to move the heavy stuff.

Sunday night we had our first campfire/cook out of the year hoping to do it every Sunday until it is too hot. It is nice to just sit around the fire and talk knowing we do not have to rush.

Today I got to see the white Peacock stunt his stuff and even had my camera with me.

 

Made a replacement sign for the site I am in and completed the last one for the lower rv sites.

Sign Repair Reopens

Taken it slow until my right hand is 100% working again, but have started working on signs again.  This time I am getting the RV site name signs fixed up. Have only done two so far but it is better than none. If I try to do too much my hand hurts to the point I can not sleep at night so I will stop at first warning. Hard to not do anything all day, so I watch old movies, play computer games, read, walk/play with the dogs. Been a long two weeks. Just have to remind myself that I can do more today then I could last week.

Small Victories

Today I was able to refill all my bird feeders (4) for the first time since before the accident. My hands are getting better and I can once again do some of the small things. Last night I was able to do some minor cleaning and washed a weeks worth of dishes. Rig is still a long way from being clean, but it is better today then yesterday.

 

High point of today was planting some seeds for Morning glories, hoping there will cover the wheel barrow and give some color.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sad to say sign painting/repair shop is still closed, not sure how long it will be before I can get back to it.
