Caballo For two weeks

After doing Dogs and birds, I only had a short wait for the LP to be disconnected and I was on my way. After not driving the rig for several months I was surprised how easy it was to get back behind the wheel and drive. Stopped off at Cortez LP to get my onboard tank filled, then Wal Mart for printer supplies and some snack food. Pulled into my new home ( two weeks ) at noon and started to set things up. Made it in just in time to beat the high winds, I forgot how much fun this rig is to drive even in light winds.

All set up and dogs had first walk of the day at the park, will walk Spencer alone for now on. three is too much with all the new sights, sounds, and people. Love looking out my window and seeing trees and mountains and not any thing on the ground.

Hope to get some photos in the next day or so, plan to go on one hike a day without a dog so I can look at things. But for now here is what I see from my rig, and the rig at new site.

Excellent Day

I was now sure how this day would go. I had the day off but it rained all night so I knew I was not going to be able to do any work around the RV site. This site still needs a lot done to it before I will be happy, but it will get done just not today. After taken the dogs for a walk I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few items that I wanted, flower bulbs, planting soil, and some seeds to start a small garden. When I came back Nancy ( another volunteer ) asked if I wanted to go to a Mexican restaurant for lunch. We went to Carmen’s and I had a nice Mexican breakfast, not the best I every had but still very good. Then seeing it was still raining we went to check out the Senior Center, I will go back next week and join. Lunch is only $2.00 if you are over 60, it is time I take advantage of my age. During our talks I found out she likes to play cards and board games so when we got back we sat and played two games of Cribbage before she had to do the nightly check of the animals. As we played Stumpy made a new friend. 🙂

Now as I sit I have been watching my nightly visitors, even with the rain the birds still come and check out my feeders. Getting to see them is worth the $10 a week I spend on seeds.

Hands are improving, but today was a very good day. I was able to use my right hand to cut meat, and use a fork to eat. I have been only using my left to eat with and it was no fun to put the fork down to cut something then put down the knife to pick up the fork. Also notice that when I started this blog I was using both hands to type ( that is two to four fingers instead of one or two ). That is the good news, the not so good news is it is looking more and more like the Doctor will be proven 33% right. When I was told nothing was broken and I had no infection, I was also told I might have nerve damage in two fingers ( one next to thump and one next to small finger ) ,, Looks like he was wrong on those two, both are working fine. I was told the middle was a probable for nerve damage, and  it is looking like he may be right on that one. So far I can not move it up to a line flat but can grasp with it. If that is all that I end up with I have to say I got off easy. Tonight I am enjoying the fact I can move my hand as much as I can pain-free. It is so nice not to be in consist pain. I am guessing the last of the swelling will be gone in a week to 10 days. It will be nice not watching the thing draining all the time.

Skip This Post if You Do not like The U.S. Flag…

Today was a no work day, ( no animal care ) so with the help of Nancy ( another volunteer ) I started to get my rig and site cleaned up. Was able to clean up the outside area used for the dogs, also got the dog sign and flags up. Nancy did the inside of the rig, this way I did not have to put my hands in dirty water or soap. Tomorrow will be laundry day after animal care, then I think I will be caught up for the first time since the dog fight. Still have lots of plans for making this site better but for now this will do.

After morning cleaning we went for lunch and picked up a few items at Wal-Mart before calling it a day.

Dogs and I had a fun morning

No yard work today… First thing on the schedule was a visit to the spanking new Wal – Mart in Tucson Az. This store is less then 10 miles from the house so food shopping  should now take less time and gas.  I still say the paper announced it was to open at 7am, so I arrived at 6:50 only to be told it was not going to open until 8am.  So I walked the dogs around for a little and then the ceremony started. Had to see what was going on, first part was speeches by folk patting each other on the back for the great job in getting the store and built in Tucson. Next we had the handing out of oversized checks to several charities. Now the part that I liked and was happy I had not missed it, was when a  company of young boys and girls danced for us. Then we had the national anthem sung by the manager of the garden department, I have to give credit were it is due…. She did a very good job, better then some of the so called stars have done.. At the end of her singing we went shopping. The store looks and feels just like any other Wal Mart I have ever been to but it is nice to have it so close.

After leaving Wal – Mart I intended to head back to the house, but then decided to go for a photo hike in Colossal Cave Mountain Park. I did not go to the cave but checked out the Ranch and camping areas. All I have to say is I am glad I did not try to take an RV down any of the roads. I do not recommend the camps sites for anyone in a rv/camper over 16 ft..  On the other hand if you are the type that likes remote feeling places and tent camp, then this place is perfect. Took a few photos but nothing to talk about. The best ones ( my opinion) are the ones in B/W .  One good thing the walk did was wear out the dogs, both are now sleeping… LOL…

Landscaping in AZ Will See An End

From the looks of what is done and what is still needed, I will finish the major work next time out. So one more day of cactus fighting and tree trimming. Does not mean that all the yard is done, only the part that I am willing to do. The sections remaining need to first have all the debris removed before completing. I will still go out a few times a week to walk around and try and keep up on the weeds before things go nuts again. May not get out again until at least Thursday because a new Wal Mart opens at 7am tomorrow the 12th and I will be there with my camera just to see who shows up. Maybe I will get a few photos for the Wal Mart page.. Ha Ha..

Todays section was long and tiresome but not all that difficult, Turns out a nice healthy tree was in the middle of a bunch of sick cactus. It is the small green one, not 100% sure that it is a Palo Verde but think it is…

Looked it up on the good old internet and it is a  Palo Verde after all. if you want more information about them use the url   below:

I have included a close up of the one in the yard and one from the net.. Looks like a match to me..

Road Trip Back to New Mexico…. ( s. Monticello camp ) Elephant Butte SP

Up early , walked the dogs, and we were off and running. ( driving ) First stop was only a mile down the road, stopped at Safeway to get remaining food supplies I felt I still needed. After Safeway drove East on I-10 until it was time to fuel up the rig, stopped at a flying J fueled up and got a cup of coffee.  Next stop was a Tractor Supply for dog food and treats, last was a Walmart to pick up pills and a few odds and ends.

Even with stopping so often I still made camp by 3:30pm ( 2:30 az time )…  Now time to fix dinner and relax for the night. Hoping for some good photos in the next few days.. So that was my day…  Now back in NM until late Dec..  Crossing fingers I will see some nice sights in the next two months..

Lay over at Casino ( San Felipe NM )

After picking up yearly pass for the New Mexico State Parks, we made our first stop in San Felipe NM at a casino. Used the time here to go shopping for several items needed for the rv, found the banks, post office, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and a few other places. Have been online lining up our camp sites from now until the end of Nov.

Of course we have also spent time in the casino and after four days we are down about $20.  So all in all things are looking up, our next stop will be at Oasis State Park NM. Oasis is a small park but one of my favorites. Hope to get photos when at Oasis, the Casino really does not have much to shot.. Until next time keep in mind

RV Fix It and Clean it day

Spent time washing the rig and trying to seal the back window. Seems the seal that goes around the window is coming lose and you can see the edge of the glass. I did not have exactly what I wanted for it but still managed to seal three fourths of it. Also washed the back end of the rig and the car both look better. Next was pulling out stuff in storage and going through it to see what we are keeping and what we can do without, we need space for batteries for a solar unit. That was the next thing I played with the two small solar panels and batteries to see what was working. Seems both panels work but only have one good battery.

Went to town, had dinner at subway then went to Walmart for a new battery and the correct window sealant and some other items. Not a very exciting day but productive, hoping to boon-dock  more in the future..

So much for the day, tomorrow I will continue playing with the solar system to see if I can get it working better.. No adventures today.

Photos of the day Las Vegas NM

Took a short photo hike this morning just to see if Storrie Lake Park had anything to photograph.. Took 20 min to get to the so call Lake shore, then I did see some birds but not many. Walked around until I was too cold to walk anymore ( 35f ) and returned to the rig. Not much of a walk as far as getting photos.

After the photo walk Suzanne and I went to Town to the local Walmart to get supplies that we still needed for the rig. Also picked up a new space heater the one I was using in he main room that Suzanne sleeps in was not working very well. Then checked out the Town visitor Center to find out what attractions are in or around town to see.

Then it was back to the rig for a small surprise. We think, no we know Rosie the leader of all mischief somehow opened the lid of the dry dog food. By the time we came back 90% of it was gone, it had enough to feed both Spencer and Rosie for at least two weeks. All the dogs shared in the fest we are sure, but the evidence shows that my dear Rosie ate the most. Check out the photo.. Now all dogs are on a restricted diet for the next few days until this clears.

About five hours after returning we tried to take them on a walk Miller and Rosie both walked sort of, Spencer and Baby wanted nothing to do with it. All dogs act out of it some more then others. Poor Spencer is sick and does not want to move.

Took Photos of horses across fence from us, crazy to be in a park so close to homes…

Remainder of the day was spent watching television, reading, and cards….

Time we move again, Spencer, the 23ft rv, and me

Moving day.. get up it is 7 that is right seven degrees. OMG walking Spencer I thought my noise was going to fall off it was that cold.  Okay clean up the rig, and secure everything to get ready to move. Waited until 11am hoping it would get warm enough to dump my tanks. LOL could not get anything to dump, it was all frozen… So off I go with full dump tanks to the next park, maybe I will be able to dump there.. ????

First stop, Petco to get Spencer his food, and a few treats.. Then to Walmart to resupply myself, sick of soup and chile, going to see what I can find.. Last stop was a Dollar Store for a few Christmas decorations.

Arrived at Oasis SP and as I turned in I spotted a Hawk, had to stop and get a photo.

Made it to my site, checked in , walked Spencer. Made it just before dark, hate short days. it I had more time I would have liked to have checked out a few other places…  Maybe next time…

I am going on a lim and say the world is not ended 12/21/12….
